Be Aware and Beware

Please be aware and tell people you know about that you do NOT need an online service to get an emotional or service dog letter. You can get a letter for your doctor either mental health or if the doctor feels a service dog would be helpful for their clients.

A SERVICE dog need to perform a task or tasks to qualify. They can be trained by you or the patient.

An EMOTIONAL support animal is not a service dog in the pure sense. It means that having the dog next to a patient soothes and is there for support and are not subject to many things service dogs can go.

In an event you do not need an online service to 'do it for you" They are scams. I read one yesterday that gives you a package deal. ID, coat, leash, patches, certification (there is no such thing) and a copy of the ADA rules for service dogs all for the grand price of $399.99. Its all hooey. You can get all that yourself with little fanfare. BE AWARE and do not fall for that or let a friend with a service or emotional support animals.

Also be aware that your service dog does not need to wear a vest or be identified as a service dog however it is so much easier if you do. Keep a copy of your doctors letter on you saying your need for your service animal. Places can ask 2 questions in accordance with ADA rules. Those are "Is this a service animal" and "what task does your dog perform" Keep yourself up to date with the ADA rules at https://www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm

A word about PET dogs. Yes, its easy to take them with you but if you take them and they misbehave or aren't impeccably trained you are making it twice as hard for people with a legitimate need for a service dog to take their dogs where permitted and needed. PLEASE don't do that.
